Born and raised in Steubenville, Ohio, the youngest of four children, Coy's first meaningful exposure to music was through the church. During his teen years, he became involved in several local bands & groups which ranged from gospel to contemporary rock. Performing on stage proved to be the perfect way for him to overcome his own natural shyness. After graduating from high school and attending college, he was able to travel throughout the country doing what he'd come to love  --  to sing and entertain!

Joining "The Challengers" in 1979, he survived the personnel changes and became the band's co-owner over two decades ago.  Now, in addition to handling all booking and management aspects, Coy sings, plays rhythm guitar and acts as the group's emcee.  It's safe to say that he has always loved being in front of an audience.  In his "off" hours, he's a Cleveland Browns and a Cleveland Indians fan.  He and his wife enjoy biking the trails and fishing when the band is home.  Thank you for your interest in the band and your support!
